签证便利化
至2025年12月31日24时,澳大利亚持普通护照人员赴华经商、旅游观光、探亲访友、过境、交流访问,均可免签停留30日。
澳大利亚持普通护照人员从中国过境前往第三国(地区),可从24个省(区、市)60个对外开放口岸中任一口岸免签来华,并在规定区域停留活动不超过240小时,期间可从事旅游、商务、访问、探亲等活动。此外,还可利用游轮免签及赴海南岛等特定区域免签政策赴华旅游或开展商务活动。
延长在华停留期
如您入境中国后需要申请延长在华停留期限,请在免签入境或签证注明的停留期限届满7日前向当地公安机关出入境管理部门提出申请,并按照要求提交相关申请证明材料。
如您不属于上述免签情况,请向中国驻外使领馆申请办理赴华签证。


在华支付
外汇兑换
入境后,您可在入境口岸所在地的商业银行网点柜台、外币兑换机构、自助兑换机兑换人民币,也可通过ATM机使用国际银行卡提取人民币现钞。
移动支付
移动支付在中国应用场景广泛,大多数日常消费均可使用。您可使用手机下载安装微信或支付宝APP,绑定带有万事达、维萨、发现卡等标识的国际银行卡,或带有银联标识的国内银行卡。

赴华机票
目前,中国内地与澳大利亚之间每周直航航班超过80班次,航班覆盖中国北京、上海、广州、厦门、成都和澳大利亚墨尔本、悉尼、布里斯班等城市。其中,中国国际航空、东方航空、南方航空、厦门航空、四川航空和澳洲航空等航空公司均运营从墨尔本到北京、上海、广州、厦门、成都等城市的直航。
出行
出行导航:高德地图和百度地图在中国较为常用。

市内交通
地铁:您可以在地铁站内自助售票终端直接购票或通过手机应用(如支付宝、微信)刷码乘车。
公交车:您可以使用现金、本地交通卡或手机应用(如支付宝、微信支付)刷码乘车。
出租车和网约车:出租车较普遍,建议打表计算车费,也可以使用滴滴、高德等网约车应用(类似于Uber等)。
共享自行车:市内短距离出行时,推荐低碳骑行,可选共享自行车,您可下载美团、支付宝等APP扫码乘车。
城际交通
高铁:您可通过中国铁路12306官网使用护照信息购票或携带护照到高铁车站售票窗口购票。
中国境内乘坐飞机:您可选择在航空公司官方APP、航空公司微信小程序等购票平台在线预订机票或直接在机场窗口购票。
租车自驾:您可选择国际机场、市区租车网点现场租车,也可使用租车APP或使用支付宝、微信搜索“租车小程序”,注册登记后预约租车。外国驾驶证无法在中国直接使用,赴华后可申领临时机动车驾驶许可或利用外国机动车驾驶证换取中国驾驶证。办理详情可向当地车辆管理部门咨询。

预订酒店
在 booking、trip 等网站或APP可以预订到中国主要城市的大型连锁酒店,也可以使用中国的正规酒店代理网站或APP预订酒店。预定前,建议您致电酒店方确认是否可以接待以及可使用的支付方式。酒店办理入住手续需要提供有效护照等身份证件。
上网
您可提前开通赴华国际漫游业务。入境后,也可携带身份证件到当地电信营业厅申请办理手机 SIM卡,开通移动通信服务。
中国境内的大型购物中心、机场、车站等公共区域以及大部分酒店覆盖WiFi。

旅游
您可以通过正规旅行社报名参观或根据喜好自行游览。多数景点可通过官网或微信、支付宝小程序进行购票,也可持有效旅行证件直接前往购票参观。故宫、国家博物馆等部分热门景点需提前预约。
用餐
您可以使用地图导航软件搜索热门程厅,或使用大众点评(类似于yelp)、微信、支付宝小程序查询餐厅信息。大部分餐厅既可到店用餐也可外卖到家,如选择堂食,多数餐厅不收取小费,如选择外卖,可以使用美团、饿了么(类似于 ubereats)等平台选购。

购物
中国大多数商品和服务的价格通常已经包含了所有相关的税费(与澳大利亚相似),无需在结账时额外计算或支付税费。
就医
您可以自行选择到医疗机构就医,费用标准与中国居民相同。同时,建议结合个人行程安排,提前购买医疗保险。

Brochure on China's entry facilitation policies
【Since the beginning of 2024, China has continued to implement measures facilitating personnel exchanges. While simplifying entry procedures, the country is committed to enhancing convenience and comfort for international friends travelling in China. Major provinces/municipalities and tourist attractions have been improving comprehensive payment services including mobile payment terminals, bank cards and cash, ensuring smoother experiences for international friends in online shopping, transportation and travel arrangements.
To assist international friends in better understanding China’s travel information, our Consulate General has released an informational detailing practical guidance on China's entry facilitation policies, payment systems, transportation options, tourism and shopping services, as well as medical emergency procedures. Visa facilitation
By 24:00 on December 31st, 2025 of Beijing time, citizens holding ordinary passports of Australia traveling to China for business, tourism, family visit, transit and exchange purposes and with the duration of each single stay not exceeding 30 days, are eligible for visa-free entry policy.
China has been optimizing the visa-free transit policy. If transiting from a designated port in China to a third country (region), citizens of Australia and other eligible countries are exempt from visa application when staying in designated areas. During their stay, they are permitted to engage in short-term activities, including tourism, business, visits, and family reunion.More visa facilitation policies are available such as visa-free entry policy for foreign tourist groups travelling by cruise ships and Visa-Free Entry to Hainan.
Extending Your Stay in China
If you need to apply for an extension of your stay in China after entering the country, please submit your application to the Immigration Management Department with the local Public Security Bureau at least 7 days before the expiration of your visa-free stay or the stay period specified on your visa. Ensure that you provide the required supporting documents as instructed.
If you do not qualify for the visa-free policies mentioned above, please apply for a visa at a Chinese Embassy or Consulate.
Payment Methods in China
Exchange of Foreign Currencies
After entering the country, you can exchange foreign currencies for RMB cash at local bank branches, currency exchange booths and self-service machines at the port of entry. You may also withdraw RMB cash using international bank cards at ATMs.
Mobile Payment
Mobile payment is widely used in China and covers most daily consumption scenarios. You can download and install WeChat or Alipay APP and bind the APP with international bank cards with Mastercard, Visa and Discover logos or Chinese bank cards with the UnionPay logo.
Flights to China
Currently, over 80 direct flights operate weekly between mainland China and Australia. Destinations include cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Airlines such as Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Air, Sichuan Airlines, and Qantas Airlines offer direct flights from Melbourne to China's major cities like Beijing and Shanghai.
Transportation
Navigation Apps
Amap (Gaode Maps) and Baidu Maps are commonly used in China.
Urban Transportation
**Metro** You may purchase tickets directly at self-service ticket machines in stations or present your payment QR code on mobile apps like Alipay or WeChat Pay at fare gates.
**Buses** Urban bus systems are well-developed, and payments can be made with local transit cards or mobile apps like Alipay and WeChat Pay.
**Taxis and Ride-Hailing** Taxis are widely available and it is recommended to use the meter to calculate the fare. Apps like Didi and Amap support English interfaces and are similar to Uber.
**Shared Bicycles** Riding shared bicycles, a low-carbon way of transportation, is highly recommended for short-distance travel within the city. You can choose a shared bicycle, download its app like Meituan or Alipay, and scan the QR code to start your ride.
Intercity Transportation
**High-Speed Rail**
Tickets can be purchased with a passport on the ~ 12306 China Railway official website, at station counters,or self-service machines with your passport.
**Domestic Flights**
Tickets can be booked via airline apps, mini-programs, or at airport counters.
**Car Rentals**
You can rent cars at international airports and downtown locations.
You can also use car rental apps or car rental mini programs on Alipay or WeChat. Foreign driver's license is NOT effective in China.
Short-term visitors can apply for a temporary Chinese driver* s permit, while long-term visitors can apply for a Chinese driver's license with their foreign driver's license.More details can be reached out through local Vehicle Management Department.
Hotels
Major chain hotels in Chinese cities are available to be booked via platforms like Booking or Trip.com, or through official Chinese hotel booking websites/APPs. Confirmation with hotels regarding payment options and reception are advised.- Passport or other valid IDs are required for checking-in.
Internet Access
Before departure, international roaming services are recommended to be activated while staying in China. After entering China, applying for a SIM card with your passport at branches of local Telecom companies would also be recommended.Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas like shopping malls, airports, stations and hotels.
Tour
Attractions
You can join organized tours through agencies or explore on your own. Tickets for most attractions are available on their official websites or mini-programs on WeChat or Alipay. Alternatively, tickets can also be purchased on-site with valid travel documents. Reservation is required for popular attractions such as the Forbidden City and the National Museum.
Dining
You may search for popular restaurants on navigation APPs or platforms like Dianping (similar to Yelp) or WeChat/Alipay mini-programs. Most restaurants in China offer both dine-in and delivery services. If you choose to dine in, tipping is generally unnecessary. For delivery, platforms like Meituan or Ele.me (similar to UberEats) are available.
Shopping
In China, the prices of most goods and services typically already include all applicable taxes, so there is no need to calculate or pay additional taxes at checkout.
Healthcare
Both public and private healthcare facilities are available, with equal fee standards for foreign visitors and local residents. Medical insurance in advance, based on your personal itinerary, is recommended.
